1930s Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/2 camera (memento of my grandad, shot with V3 and 32mm 1.2)

(Testing the drag and drop feature for uploading a picture. The only downside is my originals are all too large to drag straight from apple photos, so I have to export a downsized version, but the drag and drop feature does work which is nice.
It would be great to be able to automatically downsize the image when we upload. I think I might put that in the feedback forum.)

Anyway here is a shot of My Grandad's Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/2 camera, which is one of my favourite mementos of him.

it's such a beautiful camera. I really would very much like to try and see if I can still get it work, but I genuinely don't know where to start. I've found a few websites where people are still using it, so really want to give it a try. It truly is a beautiful piece of camera history, just wanted to share the shots, which I took with 32mm 1.2 on V3 body.

Indeed a beautiful camera, thanks for sharing! I think this camera is taking medium-format film rolls, which is still available today though with limited choice. Isn't it film type 120? I've seen this in a local photography shop recently from Kodak and Fuji for colour, and from Ilford for b/w. Very $$$ though. It is also available through the shopping-platform-which-name-is-not-to-be-mentioned-again (A...on :-) ). If you don't have a local dealer, then the film development could be a major problem; might give more headache than fun in the end.

Regarding automatic downsizing of uploads: I'm not sure if it would go down well with some of the users here... It's what facebook does (or at least did in the past), with somewhat questionable results regarding compression rates and sharpening, causing discussion and frustrations. It actually was the last straw that made me abandon fb some years ago...

That's a very good point about the downsizing, I do hate it on Facebook. Ideally maybe the max size could be increased, just missing how easy it was to upload to DPReview without having to resize first. I'm not too keen on how apple photos resizes my images at all either.

Very nice old camera. I don't know what your experience level is but basic b&w film processing is fairly simple and with decent PP app you can scan and turn the negs into digital photos.

I've never had the pleasure of developing film by myself sadly :( but it's something I have always wanted to do, I think I could comfortably figure out the post processing of the negative, but it's the initial handling and treating of the film that I don't have any experience with. Definitely going to look more into what's involved though, as I would love to try

Impossible to forget the smell and the taste of darkroom work.
You didn't miss much. The digital darkroom is so much easier.

I spent so much time in the darkroom that I got allergic and had to stop!
