    Hello,
Is a 200 watt off camera strobe powerful enough to use a 32 inch umbrella type of softbox? Thank you.

For most situations, absolutely. And if that's not enough light for a particular aperture, move the umbrella/softbox in closer.

Or simply bump ISO to 200. And before some of you act like you just witnessed a violent murder, just stop. You could shoot at 400 ISO all day long. No one would ever know.

Should I use a 7” standard reflector too? I’m using the Neewer Q3 off camera strobe.

only unless you can use your strobe with bare bulb

Exactly which 7" reflector are you referring to? Do you have a link?

The Q3 doesn't have a bare bulb option. It has a fixed fresnel head... unless you popped off the fresnel lens. But then the bare flash tube would still be shrouded.

The answers above are all correct for many ambient light conditions. That combo will work just fine. As said, if you need a bit more light, try to move the speed light towards your model a bit…. It will soften the light and make the model brighter.

    I will add a twist though…..

Are you trying to overpower the sun? I.e are you trying to turn daylight into darkness…. Shooting at 2pm into the sun with your model’s back to the sun and he/she facing you? If so, then, most likely “no” that light and soft box won’t do that. There are limits. BUT, even in these conditions, it would make a nice fill light as you balance ambient and flash in your image.

It’s just the standard one. 7” and they are all the same.

There is a round bracket that holds the strobe and also has the slots for Bowens attachments. I watched YouTubes comparing the Q3 and AD200 as well as read reviews. I think the Q3 will serve me well, so I ordered a second one.

I can use the 7” reflector with a sock as my main diffuser, can’t I? Why do I need a bare bulb in other cases?

It sounds like I should have bought 400 watt strobes.
