    Hi.
I have had some gear (and my car) stolen.
Of the four lenses I have lost, there is only one I want to replace ... the 7Artisans 35mm f1.2.
I love the look of the images it produces.
Should I "upgrade" to the Mark ii version? Or will the results be very different?
I have read that the original version is a Sonnar-based design ... which produces more "arty" shots wide open. And that the Mark ii version is a different design that won't give me that magic.
Does anyone have any experience to share?

I haven't used either lens but perhaps you can look at the images on this Flickr group if you haven't done so already.

    Thanks for this.
I would still love to hear from anyone who has used both ... if that's possible.

And now I have read that both versions are based on a Sonnar design.
Plus ... a strong review in favour of the Pergear 35mm f1.2.
    What to do?

    I got a great deal on a Pergear 35mm f1.2.
    So I bought it.
But the 7Artisans 35mm f1.2 (version I) always made me smile.
If the Pergear doesn't ... I will buy the (very small) 7Artisans again.
    Stay tuned.

I'm going to answer my own question.
The Pergear 35mm f1.2 has arrived and it's a wonderful lens. I think it's sharper and a better performer generally. It's predictable and precise.
    But.
It's bigger and heavier than the 7artisans 35mm f1.2. And not as creative, if that makes sense. There's something about the unpredictability of the 7artisans that I miss.
So ... I stumbled across a very good deal for another 7artisans 35mm f1.2. When it arrives, it's going on my Sony a5100 as my tiny low light "art lens".
The Pergear fits nicely on my Sony a6000 and I will use it too.
I'm trying to buy and carry less gear these days. But doubling up here works for me.
