I have to get out of the yard and away from those birds once in while .. and this day was just a walk! .. The pictures taken are just random shots as I walked the paths along the north bank of the Tennessee River … Looking up river

Thanks for stopping by, Jim .... A day not sitting in the yard frustrated by birds that don't fly the way I anticipate!!! ... Bird? Mooch ? ... I guess I stopped thinking of him as a heron and more as just another fisherman who sometimes (often) just waits for another fisherman to throw him one .... His name was given to him by the fishermen who stand along these banks. I believe the boaters at this marina have another name for him but I have forgotten it ... For me he will usually patiently pose turning his head one way and then the other so I get the good side ...

Thanks, BDicky ..... Mooch's philosophy is "Why Fish when I have all these humans to do it for me?? " It's a rare day when one of them doesn't throw him a couple small non keepers ..

Thanks Rich .. Mooch is spending more time along these banks and when the fishermen are working it Mooch is usually there and will accommodates me by posing with one of the fishermen ....

Yeah well .. I think he picks out the good fishermen to stand near! On days when there are just armatures he stands on a rock in the river and actually fishes ... Nad I open the thermos for more coffee, sit here and just take more pictures of him ... very accommodating .. would you like some coffee as we wait for him to come back? ..

I would have been here sooner but your thought about swimming made me pour through the files to try and find an old picture showing young boys diving into the river but no luck ..... Thanks for the comment and stopping by, Andrew ... I wouldn't swim in the Tennessee as there are too many large cities, sewage and chemical dumps upstream .. but people do swim in it here and there ... and the Heron like it ...

He definitely likes to have his picture taken but its appeal is a bit less than any fish that is being offered ... BTW both river pictures are Panos ....
