I am a commercial photogrher. Some fols think that is a kida glamorous job- pretty fashion models, designer jewelry, gourmet foods, snazzy cars, cool stuff- well sometimes. Sometimes- not so much! Imagine spending a week shooting surgical supplies for a catalog How a bit musical instruments for an auction house, 300 of them, straightforward on a white background. appliances and home- entertain stuff but for an online seller- no fancy stuff. As my grandkids used to Booooooring! The good thing is, I get a studio full of stuff with interesting shapes, colors, and surfaces, and things that most folk don't have lying around the hous or office. Good fodder for abstract images.

Another idea. Oftenteims, I read posts on forums where photograhers are frustrated- it's bad weather, the birds have gone south, there's a pandemic, nothin' to shoot, etc, What I do is empty my junk drawer, boxes in the basement, or whatever I can find and shoot it before donating it the charity shop. And while I am at the charity shot or junkyard, I find more junk for props, still life, and abstracts.

Minimalist? NAH! I'm too much of a semi-hoarder and clutter bug. Abstact? You tell me! By the way, I do this
stuff for fun- I do not attempt to sell it s "fine art"!

All interesting and great photographs. You do very good work. I know the feeling photographing catalogs. Every year I used to photograph a men's accessory catalog. Hundreds of cuff links and tie tacks. It's money, but I'm glad it stopped a couple of years ago.

I like this one a lot! Very creative processing or has some of it been done in camera/via a mirror or reflection?

I do quite a bit of somewhat abstract photography already, but I feel like I can still learn a lot in that field and you're right - it can be a very nice and worthwhile distraction!
