    I've just done a little test as a 'user' and I don't seem to be able to delete my own posts or replies. As admin, I went to the settings and didn't see where it could be enabled.

    I think this is something we should have. DPReview did - and so do other forums I've been involved in.

    That would be very helpful. Some of us have made various messes while trying to learn how stuff works here. We would clean up after ourselves if we could!

    I believe DPreview had a very short timeline that would allow one to delete their own post or reply. Or if an original post had a reply it could not be deleted. Since we all make mistakes having that ability would be great, for me. But, if a post that has replies is deleted, would that be fair for those who spent the time to reply? Also, on "their" buy & sell thread there was no way to delete the post for an item that has already been sold.
    I was extremely grateful that deleting a post was possible at first here. Learning to load a photo I made some really stupid mistakes, worth being embarrassed about.

    Generally it is not good idea to allow remove already replied post - makes thread flow erratic. Deleting first post (=thread 'root') is even more problematic.
    Editing replied post may create problems too, esp when someone decides to delete all content - but then only this post author looks somewhat stupid, not the entire thread :) Thereby I would not block editing.

    If and when we get moderators, then it should be possible to report own post with humble request for deletion - then moderator could decide, is post (or in case first post, the entire thread) worth retaining or not.

    Another idea would be allow deleting only on test forum - but this requires someone (mod again) to move test posts there.

    I’ve just posted something in the wrong Subcategory. I could repost but mindful of server bandwidth I’m reluctant to do that.
    Deleting and reposting would seem to better, but deleting isn’t possible right now.

    @EricNepean

    Edit / change the title of the thread to read...
    Admin: Please Delete

    Someone will see the title faster.
    If you wish, you could say in the message: Posted in error -or- Posted in wrong category.
