Lately I've been playing with alternate image making techniques such as pinhole, toy lenses and scanners. This one was done last evening with an old scanner. Not sure where exactly this image fits in the forums. If it fits at all.

I've seen that image before - I think it means you didn't succeed in uploading your image. I got it too on my first attempt! The trick is to click the Preview button to see what you've got, before posting to the forum.

    ThanksTom.
I'm not sure what anyone else is seeing. When I read your reply my original image is quoted. Maybe you see a different image.

This is what we’re seeing. Are you linking to an image on a local drive , or in a private directory?

Interesting. I uploaded the image from local storage then placed it in the post. I'm using a tablet at the moment but I'll try UL again on a different machine. Got something wrong.

Never mind. Misunderstood what I was looking at.

What I can currently see looks like this:

You appear to have deleted the small box confirming your upload (with the filename and size), which may be the problem. If I delete that box in my post then my image turns into what I see in yours.

Second try... It looks like I inadvertently deleted the image from the bottom of the post and my browser was displaying from local cache. Best I can figure anyway. Please excuse my inept skills. Old dog new tricks.

No worries. We’re all learning the how’s & why’s here.

You mentioned that you’re playing with scanners and pinholes, etc., so you may be interested in the DIY/Experimental category. Not that sharing your photos in this section is a problem. Share wherever you’re most comfortable!

Love the b&w version…I concentrate more on the shape and structure with that one over the color version.

Thanks I appreciate your comments. B&W does seem best for this image. The scanner is a strange imaging device.

I think the colour version is a bit too... obvious? The black and white version is definitely better.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure about obvious in terms of the image. The scanner has very high resolution, very shallow DOF and unusual lighting. Most of my work is converted to B&W. I'm not very good with color.
