Am Phot conclusion from the Canon R8 review

LOL. If you "cant argue with the results", what's the problem? The last line implies that only a Canon afficionado will be "delighted with it", which is rather a snooty remark.

Sounds like this R8 is somewhat like the X-S10, only without IBIS.

In my opinion, cameras are so good these days, that a good part of the decision hinges on familiarity with menus, operation, and personal preference about them. I have used Canon EOS for 20 years, it is a great system, with great ergonomics. To me, the best camera I have ever used, with a wonderful balance between ergonomics and operation, was the EOS 1V. Because I shoot mostly in aperture priority, don't photograph action, basically I could do with any system.

I see no contradiction on the author's conclusion; the R8 is a great camera, but he prefers another one.

Anyone who writes about any gear is only expressing their opinion.

With the Digic X processor Canon is putting out excellent camera bodies at competitive prices.

RP was released 4 years ago at 1299, for a small light FF it does a great job(apart from the 4K video AF)

A bit of inflation and the latest processor and AF algorithms and only $200 more on release, the R8 is good value and if you can find a deal...great value.

IBIS,WR,DualSlots and a bigger battery...the MK2 R6 is suitable for Pros or people who need the Extra features,the rest can get the R8 and produce nice images in a lovely light camera that ticks plenty of Boxes.

I wouldn't get the Xt5 over a R8 even though the T5 is an excellent camera.
