I have watched folks mount these everywhere. I see the manufactures websites show them on top. I have even seen the FAA websites say to install on top. It makes sense to mount AC on top since the purpose is to avoid manned acft from collided with UAS's.
I am curious as to how far folks have been able to see their mini's 2,3, 3 pro etc. during the day VLOS with a clear strobe mounted? My HeiyRC says 3.7 miles , but I am sure that is night time.

It is for night time. AC not as effective during the day.
