Excellent site. Appreciate all the effort put into this new home. Membership is growing fast.
So, what Pentax compacts are people shooting? I have an Optio A40 along with Q and Q7. Not sure if Q belong here or in the other Pentax section. Also have two Auto 110 slr.
    Thanks,

Good question! Should the K-01 go here too? ;)

I'd argue that Pentax's mirrorless ILC's have more in common with their DSLRs than compacts like the MX (I sold mine several years ago, and now I kinda regret it, for nostalgia's sake if nothing else).

Honestly, these days I barely shoot with the Q - mostly when I want to play around with my D-mount and C-mount cine lenses. But it still has a lot of emotional appeal; the original Q more than any of its successors. (The magnesium body still has an elegance missing in any of its successors, although I still have a Q7.)

I'm another with the Q (& a Q-S1) though they are far from my main systems.
This is the section where I expected to find them - they are certainly compact and aren't SLRs, but I half expected them to be lost in posts about Pentax Optio point & shoots (I've never bought one of these but have still ended up with a couple, as yet unused by me).

I'd find the location of Auto 110 posts more difficult to predict. It's a Pentax SLr, a Pentax compact & a film camera. I'm unlikely to ever get a 110 film to try in mine, but if I did film photography section would seem at least as appropriate as either of the Pentax sections.

I still have some Pentax film SLRs, again film photography is likely to be where I'd discuss them.

The lenses of my auto110 have been used on both MFT & e-mount so the adapted lens talk section is where I'm most likely to post about them. My little Q models will also frequently be used for adapting - so far I remember using M42, PK, c-mount, d-mount & panteka lenses on the Q but there could easily have been many other mounts.

I don't have a K-01, and don't think there is a section where it truly fits, Pentax SLR seems as good as anywhere for it. I don't think any of these are really mainstream enough to warrant their own sections.

Yup, I have a Q-S1 that I still use from time to time. I also have the original Q but it's boxed up.

I enjoy the flexibility of the Q system but recently have been wishing for better IQ. For a vacation trip last fall I took my (relatively new) Ricoh GR IIIx and my Q-S1 with the Wide and Tele Zoom lenses to cover everything else, It worked but the difference in IQ was quite noticeable. Recently playing with a friends 1" sensor compact I see that the IQ (not surprisingly) is in between the two. It's not going to happen but a 1" sensor Q would have been nice. Oh well, the search for the perfect camera continues :-)

Forgot to mention I have two yellow K-01. Unfortunately, the full spectrum modified one died last year. The shutter failed. Apparently it happens a lot to the K-01. A shame .

The Auto 110's haven't been shot in years. I have some color 110 Lomo film. No where near me develops 110 film. I do use the lenses adapted to the Q and M4/3 Olympus Pen.
    Thanks,

A friend of mine has the yellow K-01, and loves the color scheme; I admit I preferred the traditional black-and-silver.

Still took some nice pics, though!

I picked up an Auto 110 at an estate sale a couple of months ago; camera with the 18/2.8 was $8, the 50/2.8 was $5. Wish they'd had more lenses...

Yes I have the Q and Q7 but they don't get used much at all these days.
I did use the Q7 a couple of times as a makeshift photobooth for my daughter's wedding and my wife's age birthday and it was quite successful.
I used the remote from my K5 and the Pentax Flash (can't remember the mode but it really dwarfed the camera) and with an eye-fi card it was able to send images to my daughter's iPad. There was no printed output but the photo's were shared with the participants.
The whole setup worked exceedingly well with only a few minor hiccoughs (hiccups?).

I had the 01/02/03(fisheye?)/06 lenses and a Pentax K-mount adapter which I tried with some of my primes I had at the time (and all gone now) with mostly very ordinary results.

Nice photos everyone. Glad to see so many Q and K-01 shooters here.
