    Greetings all,

I enjoy taking night and astro pictures but have struggled at getting better at it. I wanted to start a thread to share astro and night photography related learning resources.

I found this youtube channel to be excellent. The person behind it, Richard, provides a wealth of free online workshops and some printed material. If you feel up to it and have the ability, he provides the opportunity to make a small donation. I've done it before as I've gotten so much out of his stuff, but once again it is completely voluntary.

What other resources do people find worthwhile?
    Happy shooting!

There are a fair number of good videos there. Thanks for the link.

As for other resources, I often check with Roger Clark’s website. He doesn’t post videos but his voluminous articles are worth reading, even if you don’t agree with all of his points (as a number of people don’t).

Oh, and congrats on being the first poster on the Astrophotography sub forum.

A good article about ISO, SNR, DR
Find the best iso for astrophotography

My number one reference book (highly recommended):
The Deep-Sky Imaging Primer by Charles Bracken

Thanks for the additional learning resources. They look great and will review them more in-depth today.

Kylon, I also have The Deep-Sky Imaging Primer by Charles Bracken as well as two others: Astrophotography by Thierry Legault and The Astrophotography Manual by Chris Woodhouse. All discuss various telescopes and cameras but they also (and possibly more importantly) discuss the software/post-processing. I have yet to attempt any DSO photography (only moon shots so far). I'm planning to shoot some night-skyscapes in a few weeks. I've got a Celestron 8" scope that hasn't been powered up in years that I'm hoping to dust off for some summer visual observing.
