I have just moved to a new location, a bit further inland and a touch drier (at the moment because we are having a dry spring - but that will change). I immediately noticed a lack of the flowers I had been used to finding and was a touch bothered that I wouldn't have much subject matter. Well a good walk every afternoon with my dog has presented some new opportunities and, although there are few keepers, I am getting a few scenery shots. Something that I hadn't had much success with before. It's all part of my / the photography learning curve and for the moment I am quite happy with the opportunities I have found.

The second one is a heavy crop of the lower foreground and I think is best viewed as is because the focus was on trees in the foreground and 1:1 is clearly oof.

I think your second image has the feel of an impressionist painting I like it ,focus be damned 😀

Yes that is my feeling too. It is one of those shots I can sit there and gaze at.

No dog however... I really like the first one - the dog and the winding road... Was the rule of thirds deliberate?

Perhaps not in the original composition although I did want her looking down the road, but in the crop yes.
