I found this 8mm long "stick" late last night, thinking it might be a moth i put it in a jar overnight, in the morning it was hanging from the lid, but i assumed else someone had moved it

Despite looking closely several times I decided it was indeed a stick

but after going away for a while it had moved again

so, closely looking... the stick started standing up !, and studying the top I thought there was a head and eye. wrong again, the other end moved and a larvae eventually emerged, google says its a bagworm larvae

    Nature can be very weird

Got some eagle eyes there Jim, that camouflage is pretty good. We used to get loads(thousands) of these or a similar species on our evergreen trees in Alabama when I was a kid, always found them fascinating the way they build their protective shell out of local foliage so they blend in.

Dont know about eagle eyes Ryan, I thought it might be a moth, but i couldnt see anything until i got my camera gear out, and even then i assumed the top of the "twig" was a head & eyes ... what a shock when it moved from the other end :)
