    I think where beginners should post their initial post/query would be much clearer if the Beginners Questions Discussion forum had a description that stood out much more.

    The current description "This forum is for followup explanations from Beginners Questions (BQ). Posts may be moved from BQ to here once the discussion evolves beyond a few posts of answers." does not really stand out because the font size is way too small imo.

    Maybe increase font size and/or make bold and/or change colour.

    Or maybe rename the Beginners Questions Discussion forum to something more distinguishable from the Beginners Questions forum.

    Just my $0.02 🙂

    It started as "Photography Tutorials Forum" after I posted to say "Beginners' Questions should mean just that" and that another category should be created for experienced photographers to post tutorials in the form of answers to hypothetical questions.

    @TomAxford

    Yes, I know why it was created. I'm suggesting there isn't sufficient differentiation between the BQ and BQD forums for beginners to easily identify in which forum they should post their initial post/query.

    Do you know why the name was changed? The original name would not lead to the confusion you have mentioned.

    This was my idea. Alan had started a 'tutorials' category, I suggested that we have a background discussion forum for beginners questions. The idea is that BQ can be saved fro beginners questions and answers, if it goes, as it often does, I will move that discussion here. You're welcome to start them here if you want, but this is where background discussions will end up. If the discussion resolves into the beginner's question needing a different answer, I'll deal with putting that back on BQ.

    I think that answers to hypothetical questions would still have a place in BQ. I have a sticky post there that guides beginners to those answers. The second forum is really about more involved discussions, isn't it?

    Yes, and also for all the tangential sub-topics the original query can fly off into 🙂

    Your idea of second thread is a good idea though.

    Yes, I think some of those discussions could be really interesting, but I understood why some people thought they weren't for beginners.
