    Announcements:

    X-S20
    XF 8mm f/3.5
    XApp

The spin about these new products was basically about travel photography, which makes sense.

Apologies, this was supposed to be in the Fujifilm X category, not Open Talk. Still getting used to some of the features on this site.

Hopefully the moderators will move this thread into its right place.

Very happy that (despite all the evidence to the contrary) Fuji haven’t forgotten about the X-Pro3, and gave it a version 2.0 update today to prepare it for the new X app.

The latter doesn’t seem to be available for iOS yet but it looks like a big upgrade and, well, can’t be much worse than cam remote. If I still owned previous gen cameras I’d be a little miffed that they didn’t make the cut and are stuck with cam remote in perpetuity (which will, inevitably, become unsupported I imagine).

Hard to imagine that Camera Remote will be LESS supported than it already is. Won't be difficult for the new XApp, for cameras compatible with it, to be better. Remains to be seen if Fuji is serious about supporting it.

Regarding the new XApp, from the summit's broadcast, it will be available 25th May for IOS and Android. And for most cameras; I think there is a limit for older cameras due to Bluetooth.

Usually what happens each year on iOS at least is that Apple release a new version of iOS which completely breaks Camera Remote, Fuji act shocked (despite having the same access to developer betas as everyone else) and eventually fix it a few months later. If and when Fuji stop supporting it then.. it’ll just stay broken and that will be that for users of older cameras.

I think Fuji are justifying the cut-off on the basis that Bluetooth is a requirement for X-App, which is understandable, but doesn’t explain why the XH1 and XE3 have been left off the new firmware compatibility list.

In fairness to cam remote, it was designed to give enxtra features to the Bluetooth cameras while also supporting basic functionality for the wifi only models; wouldn’t have been impossible X-app to do the same.

Even as one of the five people for whom Camera Remote actually worked somewhat reliably, I'm excited to see Fuji shoot their shot at bringing out the first ever non shit camera-to-phone app - they said it couldn't be done, but maybe it can!

Yes, it would be a real pity if X-H1 and X-E3 were not supported.
The original GFX 50R is also missing on the list of compatible models, despite having Bluetooth on board.

Hope it's just an omission due to the marketing emphasis on current gen.
Although there are X-T3, X-T4, X-T30 Mk I, X-S10 on the list as well...
