We're trying to put more order into our software releases. Part of this is actually testing them before they go live. We now have a beta-test version of the site. What we're looking for is a corps of beta testers that we can let loose on each beta release to play with it and find the bugs. It just involves using the site as per normal - but your contributions won't, I'm afraid get consolidated back to the main site.
    How to volunteer
By reply to this thread or if you prefer to be discreet, by private thread to the member @volunteer . Please put 'Beta tester' as the title of the thread.
    Huge thanks in advance,
    Bob

I am happy to test new releases before they go live.

It might help when you let the testers loose if you also list the more important features that need to be tested.

Nice, but it's important to look for regressions (stuff that worked but the new release broke) too.

I'd be willing to give new releases a try - can't say how rigorously, but with multiple testers maybe we can cover the bases.

Thinking about Beta testing.. My age and health issues make me hesitate to join. But I have done alpha software testing in the far past so I see some issues ... The mian complaint seems from those I interact with is that they want a data structure that allows them to essentially start a blog as a single thread with a leader who regularly starts the thread and participants who regularly contribute and who really constitute a social community.. I would suggest that you try to enlist all those who bring and participate in one of these threads – like the C&C thread – to contribute to the Beta test as you will at least need to generate a lengthy thread with several different discussions going on inside that thread. So recruit the C&C or like community to start their next entry on the beta system … and then see what problems they have … just a suggestion ….

I'd like to be a beta tester. I am a recently retired software engineer.

    Let's do a Forum 😁

OK - all those above who asked to be a beta tester now have a forum (scroll down to the bottom of the forum list) where beta comments and results can be posted.

If you can't see the forum (it's called Beta testers discussion), let me know - either here of via a PM.

I'll add the developers in now so you can all talk to each other.
