Both canon and Tamron have FF super zooms.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with either or both. Anyone have comparison images?
    Thanks!

Do you mean the Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM, introduced in 2004? And which version of the Tamron?
The Canon is an L lens, heavy(59 oz or 1670g) with some weather sealing and can be used on a Full frame body.
As far as I know the Tamron versions are ment for the APS-C sized sensors and might not be usable on a full frame body.
I think the Canon will out perform those Tamrons even with it's age

There are actually 2 versions of a FF 28-300mm by Tamron.
This is the 2nd and latest version and is out of production by now:

I am currently travelling with my full- frame Canon 5DS and the Tamron 28-300mm which I bought used from KEH in preparation for this trip and another to Mesa Verde in Sept. IF it performs well on the current trip. It is lighter and less burdensome than the 24-105 mm and of course gives me more telephoto 'reach'. I cannot post photos at present, but look at my comparison shots of wisteria of T 28-300 versus C 24-105mm in my Flickr album entitled Canon 5DII/ 5 DS on my Flickr page under Sandy Fleischmann.

I would say in generalities the Tamron is slightly less sharp than the C 24-105 but the question is, is the smaller weight and size an acceptable trade-off?? I'll see when I get a chance to process the Hawaii shots I've been taking.
