I've just begun processing a photo series taken at a local Virginia garden recently with the 40mm pancake prime, 24-105mm, and 70-200 f/4 IS. Here is a lotus I wished to see how the DPP4 processing looks without yet putting it on flickr, so this is a direct upload from my computer. 70-200mm IS USM @ 165mm 1/200 f/11 ISO200. I'll add additional photos as I work my way through them.

Nice shot and very impressive image quality! Do you prefer to have as much in focus? I'd probably have a bit of struggle within to even use f/8 at that distance, but I've talked with a couple of people here and there are certainly different approaches to that.

Because you've mentioned flickr... if you're active there, please feel invited to join our dprevived.com group there and share some images:

Thanks for the comments. I tend to like sharp, 'crisp' images with as much depth of field and fine detail as I can achieve. The crispness is one reason I shoot so much with various Sigma cameras. I thought of cropping the Canon 5DS lotus photo, but decided I liked the rippling water and greenery for context.

I've been on Flickr for years, with thousands of images which I usually group by camera and/or lens and albums. I've joined the new dprevived group too and will add to it going forward.

I usually link from Flickr here to dprevived rather than upload, but today I didn't want to interrupt my archaeological Mesa Verde & area photostream on Flickr, which I've finally almost finished. We' re going there again in September and I must finish my photos from 2015!
Best regards, Sandy Fleischmann on flickr

Here's a different lotus from the same pond at Green Spring Gardens, near Annandale VA. The original full RAW is 52.8MB, my processed JPEG 25.7MB and I did a severe crop to 6.14MB at best JPEG quality, DPP4 processing. 70-200mm f/4 IS @ 165mm 1/160 f/11 ISO200
