F/2.8 is a sacrifice in this day and age, but it's a pancake. Oh well. Great addition. What we miss is a compact IBIS abled body to go with it. I want that freaking 30Mpx IBIS FF soapbox body with just a shutter button and 4.2" high res touch display on the back. 🤭
What about a Leica-like shaved down R5? 😁
Not sure about this type of shaving, but along the lines of "EXACTLY!"
But basically original Canon EOS M with RF mount and R5 sensor. Shut up and take my money... 🤭
This lens would go beautifully with such body.
It's not uninteresting - but just on personal level I'm not too keen on 28mm - 24mm and 35mm (or even 40mm) seem more interesting.
RFS 22mm f/2.0 is still awaited it seems? Surprising they have not ported this one over like they did the 18-150.
Not sure if this comes from using cell phones for photography for a long time but I really got used to and enjoy the 28mm focal length. To my taste, 24mm is too wide (unless I am doing landscapes or architecture) and 35mm too tight for a walkaround lens. Also, in the past, with a Nikon crop sensor dslr and a kit lens, I shot most of my photos at 18mm (~27mm) and never felt it wasn’t wide enough for what I was doing in travel photography.
I already have the 35 1.8 (for low light/ night photography) and will definitely buy this pancake lens along with the 16 and 50 to build a nice set of small primes for my RP (16/28/35/50).
