Clearly not for me, but it looks epic for sports shooters. One thing that isn't really clear; is the hood included?

Edit: yes, it is. Which is good since it would cost $650!

    Sigh!

Another lens that I shall not buy! Too pricey and too heavy...

But never mind, it only goes 60mm further than my RF 24-240 and I do have an EF 70-300 which didnt cost anything like 9k!

I'm not a Canon shooter but I'm excited to see the release of any lenses that push the limits of what can be done. This forces the others to compete.

I’m assuming that there is a large potential market for a “medium” tele, very fast, zoom lens. I’m sure that it will be a killer lens. But for $9500, the market I think is limited to working pros.

I'd guess well heeled amateurs will buy more of them than working Pro's

It will be a great lens for shooting pro sports from the sidelines. If only that were my full time job.

I am so excited about this lens. Eventually I'll trade in my 70-200 2.8 and 300 2.8 and replace them with this. For sports it will be fantastic. The EF 300 2.8 IS is scary good and this lens is apparently as good or better and much more flexible.
