    Hi,
I’m new here, first I’m sorry for my english.

I’ve got a nikon d3300 with those lenses : 18/55 and 55/200 (VR 1st edition) and I’m interesting to change it for a little bit better.
I can have the lenses Canon EF-S 18/55 ans 75/300 for the canon 1100D of my father.
I think to buy a canon dslr for battery life so much better than mirrorless (with my nikon I can take 3000 pictures with the battery and it’s so comfortable)

I see the canon 250d and 850d, I prefer to keep an aps-c.
I want to buy an lens 50mm f1.8 too.

I take pictures of my family, my cats, cities, zoo, disneyland paris for exemple, I post on instagram and I print them on 10x15cm or A4 format on photobook.

Thank you so much for helping me.

What is it that you hope to gain? What does your D3300 not do (or do badly) that you want to change? It’s a little difficult to advise without knowing this…

There’s almost certainly something in the extensive Fuji range which will meet your needs, but it’s hard to know until we know what you’re looking for. There’s also the Nikon ZfC 9 plus adaptor if you keep your existing lenses).

The Canon 1100D is a serious step backward.

The 250D and 850D will give you the same results as your D3300.

Those introductory Canon lenses are similar to what you have.

For increases in IQ, the only APS-C cameras better than the D3300 are the Canon 90D, M6II, and R7.

For superior AF you are likely looking at the Nikon D500.

    Hi,

Try and find a good Nikon D7100 or D7200, they are still excellent value.
The Nikon 1.8 50mm D is also very good.
    Choices, choices 😉

The Canon 18-55 is not a good lens, and the 70-300 depends on the version. The Nikon stuff is okay, and you can continue to use it on a Z50 with FTZ-Adapter. That would be a more modern and faster camera. Check if you will like mirrorless cameras as much as others do.

The FTZ adapter is so expensive in France… 300€
I saw the canon M50 mark II, but nothing came out since a lot for the M series… the R and RP unavailable :(

Nearly any cheap point and shoot will do for Instagram and 10x15cm prints. Much more is overkill.

I disagree. I had the Canon 18-55 when I started with digital, and it always performed beautifully. It’s not a professional lens, but I’ve never heard it called a poor performer. Some of Canon’s 70-300 zooms, yes, they are not all good, but I liked the 18-55m very much.

    Bonjour Charlene,
Can you tell us more? What is it about the Nikon that is holding you back? What don’t you like about it, or what do you wish it could do better?

And how much do you wish to spend? Will you consider a used camera, or only new? And we assume you will purchase in France, I am guessing?

The AF is a little bit slow,
I have some pictures with blur so I think to have a camera with stabilisation it could be perfect but perhaps with a better AF it’s not necessary

Used or new, and yes in France (or on internet with warrenty like MPB for exemple) for a price no much tan 1000€.

    Thank you

I had the Nikon D5100 and later a D5600 which has a better 24mp sensor and is a lovely camera to use. If you need a weather resistant camera then a D7200 or D7500 would be a good choice but they will be a lot heavier than your current camera.

OK your father's stuff is a setback to what you have now....the Canon 250D a splendid camera but not really much of an improvement when it comes to AF, it has a 11 point system like your 3300 it will be a bit faster though and the live view AF using the back screen works fine ..the 850D has a much better 45 point system however i would look at the older 800D as its cheaper and not much difference between the 2, don't go older than the 800 as it was a massive step up from the 750D...i buy a 77D for my 10-year-old son ..its a model that sat between the 800D and the enthusiast 80D..its still a small body but has a top LCD and more external controls ..it seems to be a forgotten model on the second-hand market so often goes cheaper than the lower 800D...a DSLR is the best bang for the buck secondhand, especially canon with the massive EF lens catalog where every EF lens from 1989 will work on every DSLR unlike Nikon wear some lenses won't work on some bodies...but the biggest step up in AF and compared to any of the camera above would be a Canon R50..the twin lens kit may be a little above your budget but the AF will seam like black magic.. eye AF is a game changer
your blurry photos are probably down to Technik and with out seeing some it wuld be hard to say

    Thanks :)

    I saw 2 lumix :
    -G80 + 14-140 and 2nd battery
    -G90 + 12-60 and 2nd battery

    I tested the g90 and it’s cool.

    Agree fully.

I use my D3300 as a backup to my D7500 and I shoot mainly birds, but for stationary birds I often use my J5 (quipped with a loupe, as it doesn't have a viewfinder), using my Sigma 135 Art (equals a 365mm lens on my FX camera).

The D7500 is often available at a friendly price used, and is almost on par with the D500 (slightly simpler AF).

I think I’ll buy a mirorless, but I’m waiting the sales in France (sales this week and in July) to decide me.

I like the lumix g90, canon R50 too

There are a lot of mirrorless choices. Plus there are lens adapters which allow you to use your canon lenses on Nikon, Fuji & others.

In mirrorless I saw some models :

    • Canon : R / RP / R10 / R50 / R6
    • Nikon Z50
    • Lumix g90
    • Sony a6600

I prefer with fully articulated screen so the Z50 is not my favorite.
