Couple suggestions

I know it's early days but that categories page is impossible to navigate.
I'm already losing the will to live trying to find forums/threads that might be of interest to me.
If I can't find my way around (bearing in mind, I'm well versed in navigating the old DPR fora), newcomers will soon get fed up and stop bothering.

Another quick one...when someone replies to you a little number notification at the top like dpreview. A lot of websites are bad with this but dpreview got it right.

It's currently very hard to find responses and quotes referencing our earlier posts. Kinda hit and miss, especially since notifications still don't seem to be functioning either.

Same, I cannot see who has replied to me and have to manually go into my profile, find my last posts and click.

Yes, otherwise we need to scroll the whole thread to see if there are replies.

Thanks for the offer. There are ideas on how to organise and finance. Ad-hoc payments now won't really help, I din't think - apart from anything, to accept them needs working through a payment system, which is part of the whole job of working through the infrastructure of this site. That's my next big job when I've managed to hand over the technical stuff.

You may have a good point, Jerome. But, FWIW, it's rather difficult to decipher when you add your text to a quoted reply from bobn2, sandwiched between his rejoinder and an earlier quote from WolfsHead. I suspect that only someone who's been following the thread closely would be able to unpack it.

The convention here seems to be bottom posting (below all quoted content). Which isn't exactly easy to follow either, but it's a lesser evil IMO. ; )

There's a lot of pressure and work going on in there folks. How about they finish what they need to do, post up their results, take a break and then they can work on the minor stuff.

I'd very much like an Infra Red/UV photography section.
This field can involve much more technical decisions than normal visual photography. A place to group together info & images from converted cameras would be more relevant than grouping them with their non converted cousins.

From the photographers I've met in real life, IR photography is more popular than 3D imaging, so I'm confident it will be used beyond just me :)

Couple of [additional] things:
- on the old site you can 'subscribe' to both threads and forums/categories. The latter seems to be missing here [unless I overlooked]
- the wording for the button you subscribe with is rather weird, I wouldn't have guessed it's hiding behind 'disabled'. Something like 'not subscribed / subscribed / e-mail notif'?
- there seem to be two categories with Printing in the title?
