I've noticed that there are the same three DPR News topics in every forum (Category?), pinned, so to speak, at the top. Is this intentional and will it be a permanent thing or is it just for the beginning so that no one misses any of the news?

Also, are what we knew as Forums on the old DPReview site now called Categories here? Can't they be called forums?

I tend to agree that it would be better if they were called forums.

It's more accurate, and it's what people migrating over from DPR understand and expect. Calling them categories is just confusing.

As to your final point, I have no idea whether there is any technical reason why they have to be called categories rather than forums, but I wouldn't have thought so. It's a text label after all.

It's just that the SW we're using calls them 'categories'. The whole thing is a 'forum', the units of discussion is a 'category' in this SW. It's a text label, but it's not put there manually. It's one of the long list of things we'll be changing.

What about those pinned posts, duplicated in every category?

They are global posts - meant to be seen by everyone. Only admins can create them. When not relevant, they can be deleted by the admin team.

Exactly, for the moment they are used to get messages that we want to get to everybody. As things bed in there will be fewer messages of that kind, and we might have another mechanism for it.
