Hi Chris and everyone here. I don't consider myself a dpreview refugee. It's sad that Amazon "killed" dpreview, most likely because Amazon didn't see dpreview making a significant contribution for selling more camera gear, unfortunately with all phones around.
But just yesterday I saw on Google news that gen z are considering dedicated didgital camera for better pictures as a tictok user posted two pictures side by side, one with iphone 14 one with a dedicated digital camera and definitely the one with dedicated camera was better. Another tictok user was asking why she needed $1300 phone, and the first tictok post already has 4 million viewers.
We can't insert picture larger than 4MB. That's fine, just extra work to crop, or resize. Can dprevived upload a reduced size, like messenger asks actual size or reduced?DSC03402~2.JPG

I never use the same screenname twice and I would like to think of this initiative as a fresh start on another platform.

Thanks for doing this, would help if I could be of any assistence but I'm just your average member I'm afraid.

Looks like I will be a new member of DPRevived. Willy79, I was on DPreview from 2003 and enjoy many aspects of photography. I will need to find my way around this new forum 😀

Besides photography, I enjoy working with computers for photo and video editing. My two PC laptops and one PC desktop all have i9 processors and 64GB RAM with lots of NVMe m.2 storage. Even with this hardware there's always new things to learn in editing and post processing.

4MB is more than enough for viewing online. We just have to resize before uploading. If one forum member wants the full size of a particular picture he can contact the owner of that picture to get it.

    Hi All
I am DutchMM (or Mike to old friends from dpreview). Live in NW Italy after a 10 year period in Amsterdam (hence the Dutch in my nickname). Originally from UK. Photographic interests: BIF (well, alright, Swallows in flight), architecture and church interiors, grandchildren. Some pictures on flickr as DutchMikeM. Current gear a6600 and a few Sony, Zony, and Sigma primes, plus one Sony zoom.
Looking forward to seeing your posts here!

Hi! I have been on Dpreview (Dirk W) since 2007 and am with Sony APS-C since the Nex5. Back then I was pretty soon convinced that mirrorless would be the future and therefore an early adopter.

Still speechless how someone can just shut down such a wonderful positive society platform instead of selling it to someone who is more enthusiastic, and I am really thankful about this alternative.

    Hello all,

I have been a member of DPReview since 2013 (after several years of reading only) and am using almost the same name as on DPReview, bar the space, which was not allowed here. My first name is René and I am living in The Netherlands and am working as a fashion photographer. In the past I was using Minolta (still have a Dynax 9 with SSM module) but made the switch to E-mount already when the first A7 was introduced. Now using the A1 and A7Riii as cameras and a host of lenses. Although I love fashion photography my secret love is Wild Life photography. For that I do need to travel to Africa, which I do regularly.

Hope to find a new place to stay.

I've been on DPR since 2002! Hard to believe it's 21 years. It's been there through all of my digital camera adventures. And I've been on e-mount since about a week after the initial Nex-5 release.

    Greetings, all!

I am another DPR Refugee and am happy to see some familiar user IDs. I am still using NorCalJim. Although I only registered after my retirement in 2015, I have been of viewer for quite some time before then.

My first camera was a Brownie and I would use my parent's medium format camera as opportunities presented themselves. My favorite camera was an all-manual Nikon SLR, which I used for decades.

These days I have numerous e-mount lenses, two a5100s, an a6300 and a ZV-E10 that comprise my Sony APS-C equipment. I don't use the a5100s much anymore but like their tiny size and flip up screen. The ZV-E10 is my choice for at home video.

Despite knowing better than deciding to support more than one ILC system, I managed to spread out into three camera systems (Sony APS-C, Micro Four Thirds and FujiFilm). I'll skip the long story and just say it is my way of dealing with trade-offs. I am a huge fan of Sony's AF/focus tracking, Olympus' IBIS & handling and Fuji's retro dials that remind me of my film days. I was inspired by Gordon Laing's "In Camera" book (shows impressive straight out of camera results) to explore some of Fuji's color profiles and film simulations while indulging my external camera control nostalgia from my film days.

Hopefully, I can continue to enjoy multiple forum/subject sections here on DPRevived!

    Jim

Bob here. 16 or so years on DPreview. Retired pro (mostly medical photography), using mostly Sony a6500 with an a6000 for backup. Was a Nikon guy for decades before switching in 2018.

A 20 year veteran of Dpreview, glad to see DPrevivied up and running and so many DP'ers registering after the sad news from Amazon. I've been a Canon user for most of that time and currently use Canon R cameras and lenses. Look forward to seeing the community prosper
