After FireFox signed me in as usual, I was greeted with this:

    oh-oh.jpg

I put in an old email to say I was interested in a subscription model, which I am not.

Then had to jump through a billion hoops all to no avail, ending up as new user xpatUSA2 with no posting privileges until approved by a Mod, duh.

I can't sign in either using tablet and chrome. Says I don't exist. Same password since 2015. Oh well, have only visited 2-3 times in last year. Wonder if this is the beginning of the end for them?
    Thanks,

I stuck with them because of their active 'Sigma Camera Talk' forum, unlike here where there is now no such thing.

These days, discuss.pixls.us meets my needs for tech. discussion.

I'm sorry but I'm logged on there, no problems. Maybe having dpreview tab always opened in background helps somehow.

    Maybe it's because I use an ad-blocker

Me too, no ads permitted here :)
There appeared some nagging screens few months ago there, I almost closed my permanent tab - but adblock warnings lasted maybe for 2-3 days and no problems since then.

One of the new owners or managers at the new owners went public some months ago about their policy on ad-blockers. He basically said they weren't going to try and stop people using ad-blockers (considered it was their right to use them) and accepted some of the adds had been too intrusive.
They were working on a subscription model that would be opt in and NOT compulsory. Sounded good to me.

I use Adblock Plus with Firefox on my desktop. I just now went to DPR, and clicked the Continue without supporting option when the popup appeared. I have been doing this for some time on my rare visits to check a couple of fora. Today I was allowed to roam freely. For some reason, it only worked for a shortr time recently when I used the iPad which also has Adblock Plus: after a while I was locked out. A pity, but Safari on my iPad often does annoying things!

I also use FireFox with Adblock plus. It has been ok for ages but there were times when it would still display the odd ad panel which was frustrating because they often covered content. However I keep the tab open and I only need to login again after a restart from a windows update or occasionally if FF gets a bit slow. I haven't had to go through the "continue without supporting for a long time". Sounds a bit inconsistent...

Personally I could care less about ad's on pages. As long as they're not that intrusive and offensive that they cover huge swathes of the text I'm trying to read, making it near impossible. Then it's an instant click on that little X in the top right corner, and the page is never visited again.

I got AdBlock because the big banner at the top was preventing the most recent post being visible on my screen, forcing a scroll down to see the most recent posts.

Perhaps because I view at 133% in FireFox due to poor eyesight.

My monitor is 1920x1200px ... yours?

Are you asking me? I've got a 24" Full HD Lenovo hooked up to my NUC as my "desktop", wouldn't have a clue what my Oppo phone is, wouldn't have a clue what my Lenovo M something tablet is either.
If the ad's start hiding the text, irrespective of what I'm viewing on, I make use of that little X in the top right corner. If more people did that, I think the worst of the problems would go away.

Edit -I actually don't mind the inoffensive nicely positioned ad's that take notice of my searches and browsing history. I've actually bought a couple of extremely well priced lenses due to them. And I'm pretty sure my last camera too.
