Because flickr is my main place on the internet in terms of sharing photographs I thought about creating a dprevived group there. I checked in with @AlanSh and @bobn2 beforehand and then went ahead and created it. So here it is:

    The DPRevived.com group on flickr

I've added the current logo, tagline and some header image and of course also a link to the website. If you can think of anything else (perhaps a more detailed discription or additional infos) I forgot, please let me know. Of course I'll update the look once this site has a final design in terms of logo, colors etc.

I've limited the uploads for members of the group to 5 per day, because I thought that might be a reasonable amount. Do you agree or should it be something else?

So, by all means, please feel invited to become part of the group if you're already on flickr or consider joining in (believe it or not, there are still dozens of new people joining this ancient social media photography site every day 😂).

Upload some photos, invite some of your friends if you want and let the (tiny flickr) world know about this site by making it the best group on flickr. (no pressure!)

Last but not least: Behave yourself, otherwise I'll have to create a "Dumpster" flickr group! 😱

seriously, i would never advertize my social media sites on these forums with members like danno. they could totally screw your entire media credability
    as a working pro photographer.

hehehehe. you have already screwed up your credibility all by yourself with no help from me at all through the proven blatant lies you have posted here, your raw histograms and other threads, your childish attempts to insult people you don't agree with and of course your spelling and grammar.

You are in no way a successful professional photographer because you spend way, way too much time on forums going by the time stamps on your posts 😀😀😎

    Thanks, but don't worry - I'm certainly not a pro photographer! 😅

(That being said, I have kinda been accused of being one 'in disguise' once! I was quite surprised and a little bit flattered... 😉)

Hi Simplejoy, I'm not sure I understand the reason for a group called DPRevived on Flickr!
But since I admire your photos, I'll of course sign up. 😍
I've been on Flickr since 2011 with over 35,000 photos and 522 albums to my credit.
I wish you good luck with your project 👍

You're right, it's not something absolutely necessary, but I guess it's twofold:

The first reason is for promotion, to get the name dprevived out... I'd personally like for this site to succeed, and while flickr surely isn't the place in 2023 to get a lot of attention for anything, it's better than nothing. At least there are some really dedicated photography enthusiasts there still.

The second reason is to (hopefully) see some more photographs of users from here who shoot different styles/formats/brands. I don't frequent a lot of brand forums, and only take a peek at specialized subs like landscape/portrait/IR/UV etc. from time to time, so I'll probably miss out on some interesting images. If some people upload via flickr anyway or use it as a second platform, I might catch one or the other from those, who're regularly in different subs. I always like to broaden my horizon. Hopefully there will be more of that happening on the site anyway, as some kind of "gallery" feature comes to life, but I personally never used that a lot, even on dpreview, because I like having a vast majority of my images in one place.

Looking at your impressive amount of content on flickr, I guess you probably have a similar approach. I really love your street photography - it's something i could never do, (just lack the personality for that) but appreciate very much. Your comparisons - often of shots from cameras which released many years or even decades from one another - are also fascinating. I wish there was a way to create sliders on flickr (or anywhere else for that matter)... Sorry, that I'll have to plug my Agfa article once more to illustrate what I mean. I'm talking about those "before/after" sliders, I used to show some similarities/differences here:

Would love to have that kind of feature for your comparison shots. Perhaps @bobn2 and the engineers behind the software this forum is running on can think about a feature like that for the upcoming gallery here. Would certainly be something unique and presumably also worthwhile for some of the editorial content.

I agree: it would be nice to have that option here. One could show the effects of processing, etc, or ask people which they prefer.

Thought of another neat feature on flickr, which - for some reason - is not used by many, but could be of interesting for a gallery feature here:

    Flickr_Note.jpg

It allows you to mark parts of the image and add a note. (like in PDF for example) Of course it's not necessary and useful to add that feature to every single image, but for some kinds of image sharing/feedback threads, it could be an interesting addition if well implemented.

On a different note: I think the flickr group could use some form of short introduction to what DPRevived is about... photography resource is a term I like, but it might sound kinda limited to technical advice/specs for many people. Is there a kind of shortform writeup giving an overview already somewhere?
