The difference in this round is that I'm putting one of my "Keeper" images up. Three reasons for this:

    1) I'm genuinely far more interested to see how this turns out because I'm invested in this image. I want to see this developed and expanded, and also "test" my own eye and taste by the response, if any...
    2) I only ever keep the few "worthwhile" of my photos. Honest, I'm quite brutal with the culling. So if I don't think it's worthwhile then I think you'll all struggle as well.
    3) There is also the possibility of a final between my original take and the All Comers champion as voted on this thread. Either way you will get to see my original edit at the end of the contest.

Here is a straight jpeg of the image, and a link to the Google Drive with the .NEF file: drive.google.com/file/d/1YrV_ux-J_ajU5xBKc2Xy7BQx1LBtYmjB/view?usp=drive_link

    _DSC4458-2.jpg

About the image: Kicked off the fertile lands on the West Coast during the Land Clearances the Islanders were forced to make a living of the unproductive land on the East Coast or fishing in The Minch (which was later over fished by the EU fleets). This is an old Whitehouse, cheap government replacement for the old Blackhouses and are little more than a shuttered concrete pour under a corrugated roof, this one over the remains of a older stone building. No damp course and no insulation they were unsuitable for the climate and hastily abandoned when newer, insulated homes became available.

    General rules:
A previous round winner presents an image, having at least some potential for different crops or visions.
Anyone (except author of original image) can enter and edit the presented image, up to three distinct edits in separate posts are permitted, though the author can show his edit at the close of the competition, but not before.
All edits must be based on original image, not on another people's edits (of course borrowing ideas would not be a problem).
Short explanations about your editing intentions are encouraged, but not required.
Once the deadline for images has been reached, no new image versions will be accepted. Questions and (polite) discussions of techniques are welcome, so that we can learn from one another how certain edits were achieved.
The edited version with most likes, wins and its author will start next round.
On the closing day for voting, if there is a draw in the number of likes for two or more edits, then the person that posted the original image will decide the winner.

    Editing rules:
All "normal" adjustments (brightness, colours, curves etc) are permitted (both local and global ones).
All geometric adjustments (perspective, cropping etc) are permitted.
Artistic effects (brushes, textures etc) are allowed.
No additions or replacements may be made to the main subject matter of the image; non-essential objects may be removed, and parts of the original image can be "moved" to a different position in the image. Sky replacements are OK unless the sky is the main subject. (We are still refining this rule).
Generative AI must not be used.

    Timing:
Get your images posted by April 11th. Voting allowed up to the choosing of the winner on Sun 13th.

You can vote during the entire contest.
    I'll post reminders.

I still like my "dramatic" retouching, but I think it's even better when cropped to provide more of a panorama

If you merge your two entries 50% each, I think that would be perfect.

It actually is merged, not 50-50 though.
But I'll not post intermediate version between two previous images - they do not differ that much. I'd rather advance my idea much further... You can look at my version as series - they are differently executed (I'm familiarizing me with rarely used functions), but the general idea should be about "the rising Sun makes the house glow and then the entire scene lights up".
