    Continuing the image editing thread, 26th issue!

    General rules:

    • A previous round winner presents a busy or just not so interesting image, having at least some potential for different crops or visions.
    • Anyone (except author of original image) can edit the presented image, up to three distinct edits in separate posts are permitted.
    • All edits must be based on original image, not on another people's edits (of course borrowing ideas would not be a problem).
    • Short explanations about your editing intentions and/or techniques are encouraged, but not required.

    Once the deadline for images has been reached, no new image versions will be accepted. Questions and (polite) discussions of techniques are welcome, so that we can learn from one another how certain edits were achieved.
    The edited version gathering most likes wins and its author will start next round, unless they would prefer to pass the torch to someone else.
    On the closing day for voting, if there is a draw in the number of likes for two or more edits, then the person that posted the original image will decide the winner from the the photos receiving the most votes.

    Editing rules:

    • All "normal" adjustments (brightness, colours, curves etc) are permitted (both local and global ones).
    • All geometric adjustments (perspective, cropping etc) are permitted.
    • Artistic effects (brushes, textures etc) are allowed.
    • No additions or replacements may be made to the main subject matter of the image; non-essential objects may be removed, and parts of the original image can be "moved" to a different position in the image. Sky replacements are OK unless the sky is the main subject..
    • Generative AI must not be used.

    Timing:
    Get your images posted by April 29. As always, you can vote during the entire contest plus one day after the image submission deadline. I'll post reminders.

    The photo:
    It is always nice to win, but it is not always easy for me to find an image, presenting different options for processing - I like to shoot single objects or details, not complex scenes. Anyway, you need to deal with what you get here - you can just make my image look perfect (auto-levels anyone? :)) or find interesting details or convert it to impressionistic painting - whatever ideas you'll get.

    The image was taken in December in Mustio Manor park near Lohja, Southern Finland.
    You can find the SOOC jpg image below and here’s a link to the RAW image (Fuji x100v)

    Cloning out that worrisome tree and whatever that stuff is that looks like old tires or a dead python was much harder than trying to jack up that yellow house and straighten it. Photoshop, a NIK vintage color filter, a little fake fog atmosphere & some radial filters in the raw converter to create the look of lighting, a texture overlay, a vignette.

    Removed the building on the right and generally enhanced lighting levels and hues selectively. Software used: Darktable

    Decided not to mess with the wonky geometry or go nuts cloning stuff out and left the scene pretty much "as-is", and just tried to translate the "feel' to something a little more compelling. Lightroom with a touch of fake grain...

    My try. De-emphasise the background and pull up the lamppost

    I know that my image is hard to make something good of it, but looking at already posted images, it is certainly possible :) You have a day (or rather almost two) to post more interesting edits here, do not hesitate!

    Here's another go in color with a different crop. Pretty much just embraced the gloom.

    Nay, I messed up dates somewhat, images can be posted as long the 29th April lasts, even for Americans - this means until tomorrow morning.
    Of course you can vote earlier :)

    OK, enough is enough - no more submissions, just voting now!

    Come on everyone - give your vote. It's all a bit of fun, but we do learn a lot from these things.

    It was hard this time, both to edit (for you) and to choose winner (there is a draw between at least three edits).

    This means that all boils down to my personal preference - and as I like somewhat misty and mystical looking scenes, then the winner is @minniev with her first submission:

    Congratulations!

    Now it is your turn (again), we are waiting with interest (and I hope you can present something more interesting than I could).

    Thanks for the vote of confidence for FOG! I love fog, and nothing will get me out of bed before sunrise as quickly as a prediction of fog.

    BTW, I like a challenge such as the one you gave us with the cattywampus lamps and house. Will post a new challenge soon. It will be a scene I've failed to do anything meaningful with after many tries.

    And few short comments, if permitted :)

    @xpatUSA
    I even hadn't noticed that there are bulbs inside the lamps - and you succeeded to light one of these :) Clear composition and processing as always.

    @minniev
    Interesting perspective change, both geometrically and artistically. I didn't suggest to straighten verticals due to the somewhat crooked scene - you twisted it in another way :)
    Adding mist and mystery to scene, fading colors and all other manipulatons made this image my favorite.

    Your second image was almost monochrome and perfectly processed - but for me the subject did lost much of its environment this way.

    Your third attempt, the colored one looks like it is taken in color, faded out and recolored a bit. Very interesting processing, looks somewhat film-like.

    @picsel
    Very different rendering, bringing all colors and details out of such early evening scene. Good balance, both compisitionally and color-wise.

    @ErikWithaK
    Monochrome processing often helps to remove or suppress unnecessary or distracting elements of image, such 'cleaning' is clearly achieved in your version, even without removing anything from image.
    It was not easy for me to choose between your and minniev interpretation, sorry you lost this time, by very little margin.

    Your second version is more 'classical' - color, crop, adjustments. You too managed to light the lamps, makes entire scene somehow warmer and friendlier.
    I also like very good balance between lamps, grass and yellow building.

    @in2lapland
    Yet again completely different vision. Maybe a tad too green for my taste (it was December, after all), but very interesting processing and makes the lamps clear and distinctive subject of the image.

    @AlanSh
    Interesting idea, which looks even better in full screen. Again a bit too green for my taste, but at the same time brings out many interesting details from lamps and their post.

    @ourpu
    I know that Fuji cameras tend to make some images a bit pinkish. You have turned it to absurd levels :)
    More seriously - I like this not so natural processing and color choice. I don't know what kind of effect or noise cleaning you used, but final result very much resembles some kind of painting, unfortunately I have no knowledge to map it into some definite style.
