Is there a way to upload or embed a video in the DPRevived forum like you could do in DPReview forum?
If I remember right, you could only embed a Vimeo or YouTube video and only be pasting the embed code.

Does anyone know the protocol here?

If all else fails you can just post a link to the video, as in this tutorial for DaVinci Resolve.

    Sean,
Yeah. I know. There's a lot people who balk at clicking on external links though, so I just wondered.

Folks may not be aware that you can preview where a link is taking you by hovering your mouse over it in a desktop browser, or long-pressing the link on a phone.

All I did was grab the YouTube URL and paste it into the edit box.

That's exactly what I did in post 2 of this thread. But I posted a video link in another thread today and got an embedded video just like in your post, so it looks like they've updated the posting algorithm.

I post the youtube video thumbnail and add the link below.
Examine the image URL and you will figure it out.

    Keywords for the image: sddefault
    hqdefault for old, old videos.
    maxresdefault for huge. lol

Here is an informative video mostly about the Ilford black and white family of film.
