In my rabbit hole hunting for old cameras, I've noticed that there is seemingly a fair supply of them sitting across the seas at homes and stores in England and Europe in general. For some stuff, it would seem England has the only supply left while I was searching. Can anyone speculate about this? Is there some reason Europe might have more old digital gear sitting around than say the US or Japan? I just found it strange that I would look around on various online marketplaces around the world and sometimes the only place I could find a copy of some cameras was on eBay from sellers in England, of all places.

It could be that the throwaway culture is more endemic in the USA.

Nah. It’s just that we have all this room in the back of our SUVs and pickup trucks for old cameras to roll around in. 😉

Speaking only for myself, I either pass them on to a good home or keep them on the shelf. I’ve never found it particularly worth my time to sell or trade in. I also historically haven’t owned that many cameras.
