I am so, so happy with that extender... it works great with my Canon EF lenses (100/2, 200/2.8L, 300/4L, 400/5.6L) adapted with a Fringer adapter.
The only 'minus' is that the EXIF file records the original focal and aperture, not the focal and aperture of the combination extender + lens.
Image quality is fantastic, AF is working fine (well, a little bit hesitant).

I use it regularly on the 70-300. The AF Tracking speed takes a hit but the image quality holds up nicely.

My experience as well. Relatively small impact on IQ (the 2.0 TC is a different story, and has a significantly greater effect on IQ). You will notice a bit of a difference in tracking speed, as indicated, but still pretty usable.

    Hi,

I too find the 1.4X excellent and would add that it also works with adapted lenses with the TC behind the adapter and the protruding front elements up inside the adapter. I've used it with various adapted AIS, FD and MD lenses and it works very well.

A debate that raises its head every so often is how TCs compare with cropping, given that both processes use the same starting image projected from the primary lens. I've never sat down for an afternoon and made the comparison images. Perhaps I should experiment, but if anyone has actually done a meticuluous comparison, I'd be interested to hear about their results.

    Thanks, Rod

Don't know, the Fuji lenses I have are not compatible with the extender... That's the beauty of adapted lenses: they are nearly all compatible with extenders!

There's a related trick...if you're doing macro/closeups, you can use an extension tube between the lens and the extender (to protect the rear element, but make sure of your clearance first). You won't get to infinity (or beyond), but you don't need it for macro. Works a treat for extra magnification!
