@AlanSh is dealing with new categories - I'm sure he'll have a look. Basically I think any category is welcome so long as it will get used.
Yes, a Infrared photography category would be great!
I've known several forums dump IR under black & white, which fits some shots, but not those done in false colour, Digital cameras can often pick up subtle colour changes through a 720nm filter, but show lots more when some visible or UV is mixed with the IR, so a separate section would be preferable IMO.
There has already been a IR specific question come up as a reply to one of my shots in the adapted lenses section so I think it's quite likely to get used :)
