From the home page-- clicking the "forums" menu item- displays a drop down box that you need to click to see the list of forums. Why the extra box instead of just displaying the list of forums directly from the forums menu item on the home page. please don't reply-just an observation.

It was something put together quickly by Martin. It needs to be revisited to make it easier, but it does work.
It's one of the things we will look at once we have the new version up and running.

I'm going to guess that it is a piece of code that normally has more than one item in the drop-down which got re-used where the drop-list was only one item long, or may have had more items and then got edited ...
