Pareidolia is the tendency for perception to impose a meaningful interpretation on a nebulous stimulus, usually visual, so that one sees an object, pattern, or meaning where there is none.
Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud formations, seeing faces in inanimate objects, or lunar pareidolia like the Man in the Moon or the Moon rabbit.
    (Wikipedia)

I'm sure many of us experience this on a regular basis... So if you have any images where you recognized faces, other human- or animal-like features, shapes or whatever else in objects, clouds, patterns etc., please share them here and if it might not be completely obvious, perhaps add a little hint what we’re looking for.

I always had a tendency to see faces in everyday things, but I’ll say in advance that some of my captures are of course enhanced by some additional arrangements, decoration or special lighting. Still, they’re usually inspired by something I recognized as a particular creature or object in the moment.

Wonderful! You could try and license it out to Nintendo for their Super Mario franchise… 😉

Not "faces" per se (but sometimes so), but if you create an animation of pure random noise, changing at a high enough framerate, there seem to be clusters of noise that are moving over multiple frames. At first glance, you might think that these are chance events alone that cause the illusion of motion, until you start sweeping your eyes and find that you can alter the direction of the motion, and its speed. It is your brain trying to create a narrative where none actually exists.

Remember this whenever you yourself or anyone else says, "I saw it with my own two eyes".

Interesting - I've never looked at much noise but I remember the B&W kind in TVs when I was a child and we were calling that "black and white ants running in opposite directions"...

Here's a recreation of a somewhat famous painting, I recently recognized in a can...
