Film Ferrania have announced a new orthochomatic (blue sensitive) film, Orto, www.filmferrania.com/orto

Probably not for portraits ! (When I was much younger I completely misunderstood how filters work on B+W and shot a roll of portraits with a heavy blue filter, thinking it would flatten out the skin tones… this would have pretty much the same effect out of the box)

If it's acts a bit like the Ilford Otho Plus 80 it could be nice film for sunny landscapes.

Can’t the Ilford film be developed under a safelight because it doesn’t “see” red at all ?

Only under a dark red safelight since the spectral sensitivity cuts off at about 560nm. An amber safelight would likely fog the film.

I was a backer of Ferrania's original Kickstarter. I still have not gotten my pledge LOL. Maybe they will send me a roll of this new film. What I really wanted was to see them make a colour reversal.

Yes, I keep checking on them…but I am feeling we will never see the promised colour film.
