I was lucky to find a 2nd hand 100-400mm Mk I reasonably close by giving me the comfort of being able to meet both the seller and the lens before handing over the folding stuff.
None of these shots have been sharpened or noise reduced. Just SOOC jpeg crops and / or a little contrast / saturation / highlights and odd red reduction (G7 sometimes has magenta cast that I need to figure out - WB?)
Was too late to go out when I got home but the moon was up. I am incredibly happy with this handheld. My FZ300 can't come close.
DoF is a lot shallower than the lens on the FZ300 but something to work on. I am happy with the extra level of detail m43 gives.
Roughie...
Wasn't the best day for in flight but got a few almost focused. None came very close...
Long shot oof but potential is there. Grey Fantail.
Nature
Mostly average pics but I feel happy for the future, I feel it's sharp enough - please don't burst my new toy bubble 😁
I was a little surprised with the size and weight - 1.3kg. For some reason I thought it would be a bit smaller. The zoom is not overly sticky. Manual focus is slower than I expected and I don't think it will suffice for quick focus but AF is good. I was able to use the one area with almost precision for quicker focus than the pinpoint. I can't do that on the FZ300, they are always more off than these.
The killer is OIS. When I was first checking it out I was saying to Paul the seller that I expected it to be a bit more shaky than my FZ300 and that was what I was seeing, He said it should be stable, have you got OIS on? It wasn't and after switching it on I was really surprised at how stable it was.
Only thing that I need to come to grips with is DoF. When framing something like a dragonfly in flight, need to get focus approximate or wont be able to see it. Seller included a red dot sight, just need a new battery for it...
