The roses are lovely Rich. We have one bloom now but I missed its peak! That one rhodo is absolutely massive, and gorgeous too!!!! Like the copter images. I see them sometimes here from a distance, air ambulance coming and going from Simcoe. A few weeks ago on the way to Hamilton we saw a tiny one on a trailer being towed along the highway in front of us. No idea what an ice plant is. I will have to look it up.

Smoke from forest fires in Canada is filling the air here now. It is from unpleasant to wear a mask and hope to not have a coughing attack.

Is the wood on the beach free for the taking? Curiosity only.

Thanks, Andrew. The roses seem nicer than usual this year. I went out one day and decided to drive around to find huge rhodies next to buildings for scale. I liked that one best. The Coast Guard are very important to us. In 2020 Eureka was designated the second Coast Guard City in The U.S. Ice plant is used for ground cover here, and to stabilize sand and dunes at beaches. I just read that B.C. has listed it as an invasive species. The smoke from fires has become a yearly event here. It is not too bad here at the beach with the prevailing westerly flow, but just a few miles inland it is awful.

I helped a woodworker collect her driftwood one year. The Oregon law is: up to 250 pounds, public land only, only wood which can be carried out by hand, and none which is embedded in the beach sand or dunes. California's law is about the same, but 200 pounds. In both states local laws can prevail over state law. The wood on the beach pictured is unsuspectingly dangerous. If a long runout wave comes into the wood, just a couple of inches of water will float the wood. If people are among it the larger logs will crush or trap people between them and then they are added to The Darwin List. Those type of waves are not always tall and visible. Sometimes it is just a few inches tall, but it just keeps coming. Rich

It looks like the chopper is trying to make off with someones crab-pot.

Beautiful roses, but my pick is the dandelion seed head - I like the subject isolation.

I've never seen a rhodie that big before.

Wood fires are pretty much banned over here now. We used to have one and a few sticks of hardwood would heat the whole house within an hour.

Carrying a full frame and tripod has probably aged that poor old chap - or has he spent too much time chasing mermaid?

Thanks, Dicky. I wouldn't want a ride in that basket, swinging around in midair.
That dandelion had a bad background so I selected all but the subject and filled with black. I like the result, too.
I went out one day looking for a huge rhodie next to a house for scale. I shot a few and was constantly thinking about a resident shooting back at me....and that's no joke. Things are out of hand here.
Lots of people heat with wood here. I did for years. Most use cast iron stoves and the salt residue in the driftwood is bad for those.
I would not chase a mermaid because I have seen the classic "Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid" from 1948. In that comedic tale, once you catch her, your troubles begin.
I hope The Boss is away for pleasure and that you have your domestic duties in hand. Rich

Thanks, WhyNot. I went out looking for the largest rhodie I could find with a building next to it for scale....and in a upscale residential area where I was not too worried about pointing a large camera at a house. I've encountered many people who don't react to a phone camera but get defensive to offensive about a large camera which looks like a camera. Some people are strange. Rich

LOL! I got fouled up and tried to correct the post and evidently had a senior moment. It started out to be "Thanks, Charlotte. I like your imagination." I didn't realize I had started a new post and not deleted the old one. however, I do like you. You are OK....for a girl. I do wish you would start making and posting pictures again. Sweden is nice to see and I like your choice of subjects.
And, I would also be happy if you would correct whatever mischief you did to Dave so he will come back. 😭 Rich

    😝😂

Real life gets in the way sometimes. Hope to be back to normal soon.

Dave seems to be clinging to DPR when he posts. I don't know. I would have liked everything to stay as it was, but after what happened I can't bring myself to go back there even if it continues to stay operational. I feels like a it could expire at any time, at the whim of Amazon. If not this month so the next month or the next year.

Oh My God, Charlotte! I'm not crazy enough to want you back to normal! I just want to see pictures! 🤣 ( I hope this made you laugh ) I sure hope you're not sick.

I feel pretty much the same as you about DPReview. Amazon crapped in the water and I don't want to go back in. However, if DPReview changes hands and Crapazon is out, and DPReview continues, I would go back, but, only if Andrew does. When I am somebody's friend, I remain their friend, whether the going gets tough, or not. Not only to Andrew, but you, too .

Note: If that happened and I went back to DPReview, I would also continue to post here because I am grateful to DPRevived...and also because I like to have something to complain about. Rich

What was I on when I wrote the above? 😖

No, I'm not sick. Some pains and aches though that limit me, but that's getting better, and some other problems that don't inspire me. But soon...

At least I'm going to add some chemicals to my rhubarb wine today that hopefully will make it clear up, which it refuses to do the natural way. So soon I will have a lot of lovely summer wine to drink with ice and can get rid of the 30 liter container that's been in my way for close to a year. That's a start.

I don't know (again). If DPR is bought, changes will probably be made. Could be good, could be bad. But above all, I don't believe a new owner would keep it very long. They would probably sell it again, for a profit or to cut losses. To someone that also will sell it after a while and so on. I fear it would degenerate pretty quick and in the end it would disappear anyhow. It's doomed, as I see it. And I don't like doom. Like the rats I leave a sinking ship as fast as I can.

WTH is in the last picuture? Have you built a nest for yourself? 😄

That's a question I would like to know the answer to, Charlotte. I understand that Sweden has draconian drug laws. Perhaps a self-high? Perhaps you are smoking rhubarb.

The nest is for children to play in, I think. The unruly ones are left in until the eagle returns. Rich
