Here is a quick shot I took of flowers I bought my wife this week. I did a quick relens edit using the MF lens preset. Looks really good to my eyes. More so that it came from my phone.

You bought your wife some really nice flowers - I hope she appreciated them...

What control do you have over settings on the phone? Just a little more depth of field would have been better in my opinion

I have full control over the camera on the phone. More depth of field meaning less blur of the backbround or more?

    like this?

Thanks. I was thinking it would be better if a few more flowers were sharp, but without decreasing the blur of the background significantly - eg. slightly higher ISO & F number. Just my opinion

Can you please explain to an idiot what the difference between the images is when the EXIF is the same in both? Is the blurring of the background a post processing thing?

Yes. that was done with the relens app. it's really fun to play around with. it has a bunch of lenses and color profiles from various "famous" cameras. I think I can adjust the "size" of the sharp area as well.

The background is too busy and distracting for my liking and so the separation between foreground and background is not strong enough imo.

I would have gone for more background blur by moving closer to the flowers and/or using a wider aperture and/or longer focal length.

    I think most here agree.

It was shot with a phone, possibly at maximum aperture and focal length for the working space in the room. The most that can be done now is to apply selective adjustments to the result (which is all the ReLens app does anyway).

To the OP: I really need practice with ON1 Photo RAW, so the job of enhancing the flower arrangement while subduing everything else helped me gain better understanding of how masks and adjustments are handled with it. I have that modified version ready if you would like to see it.

We're not supposed to post edited versions of other people's images unless they request it.

You doing so opens the door for other members to do the wrong thing as well, both in this thread and other threads.

    [edit]

I see you removed your edited version of the op's image and edited your post since my post above. For the sake of clarity this is a screen shot of your original post including the link to your edited version of the op's image.

That is correct. I didn't want to chance violating a forum rule which I was not aware of.

No problem but since you didn't make it clear that you had since removed your edited image I made it clear in my edited post why I originally posted what I did.
