On my Z9 Focus Peaking works as expected on both my native Z mount lenses and AF-S lenses via the FTZ2 when in manual focus mode.

With the Native Z lenses, when I switch to AF-C Focus Peaking disappears, and reappears if I manually focus the lens by rotating the focus collar. However, to my surprise, my AF-S lenses via the FTZ2 when in the same configuration, of AF-C mode, and manually rotate the focus collar I don't get any Focus Peaking. Is this normal? I having trouble believing that I haven't noticed this difference between Z lenses and FTZ2 mounted lenses until today. I'm seeing the same behavior on both the 200-500 AF-S, and the 70-200 F2.8 AF-S but on all my Z lenses I get the focus peaking in AF-C mode when I manually override the focus and rotate the focus collar.

    Thanks,
    Roland.

I don't have a Z 9, but on my Z 6, when in AF-C, peaking activates while holding the AF-ON button and simultaneously racking focus on my AF-S lens.

Thanks so much for your response, indeed mine works similarly to what you said, I had not tried simultaneously - only when actively pressing the AF-On and racking the focus do I see the focus peaking on AF-S lenses, with Z lenses I don't need to be pressing the AF-On button to get this behavior, just rack the focus and the focus peaking appears. Perhaps it's been like this since day one and I just hadn't noticed this nuance in behavior - I certainly prefer the native Z lens behavior.

Did you explore the lens switch options of A/M, M/A, and M?

Indeed I did. I didn't bother with M as that's obviously only Manual, and doesn't do anything with AF-C, so excluding that, I tested the A/M and the M/A. It's interesting, the A/M mode "fights" you, if you are pressing and holding the AF-ON button and trying to rack the focus it fights, and wins, and you don't get any focus peaking. In the M/A mode it "works" in that when you press AF-ON it auto focuses, and when you rack the focus the manual focusing gets priority and you can see the focus peaking - frankly I don't like how this works because I don't really want to be forced to press the AF-ON just to see the focus peaking. The Z-lens behavior is far more intuitive and better in this regard.
