    Hi All
Wonder if someone can help me.
I have just bought the X-H2S and a Fringer EF-FX Pro II. This should allow me to use my EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS II (with or without the 1.4TC Mk3) and EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS II..........................
I cannot find any setting that will allow me to get the autofocus working. The Bird Tracking works with the EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS II (with or without the 1.4TC Mk3) but it refuses to autofocus. I thought that there maybe a problem with my setting but used Morris' BIF settings........................ nothing.
Do I just have a dud Fringer or am I missing something?
    Yours, Gareth
PS. Just to clarify. Both lenses work perfectly on my 7D Mk2 and the X-H2S works perfectly with a native lens I have.

I have the nikon version of the fringer. It works right out the box perfectly on my xh2s. Is there a switch on the lens to put it in manual focus only mode?

Both lenses have that option but I set each to AF - first thing I check......................... Appreciate you coming back to me though.

Sounds weird as Fringer doesn't require any special setup. If your lens is on the compatibilty list then it should work fine regardless camera settings (as long as you selected AF-S or AF-C in camera and lens AF switch isn't in MF position). I have Sigma C 150-600 and it works fine in all AF modes with the same Fringer as yours.
I would advise checking electric contacts in adapter/lens (clean them etc). If it won't help then most likely adapter is damaged.
BTW subject tracking doesn't require AF as long as subject is more or less in focus plane.
    Cheers,
    Artur

Did you change something in the menues how af is activated? Backbuttonfocus or shutter release?

I have never used BBF, I could never get used to it on my 7D Mk2.
    My BIF settings are:
    Focus Area - greyed out
    Mode - AF-C
    AF Mode - Zone
    AF-C Custom - 4 -1 - Centre
    AF Point Display - ON
    Pre-AF - Off
    Subject Detection - Bird
    AF + Mf - On
    Interlock AE - ON
    Instant AF - AF-C
    Release/Focus - AF-S Focus - AF-C Release
    Any clues?

Hmm, this is mysterious. If the 100-400 Mk2 is set to AF, and you are not being stopped by the lens range limiter, then it should work. Have you tried setting the camera to AF-S and then just doing a shutter half-press? This should both focus and start the lens IS system if you have it enabled.

I have never had an issue with the newer Canon L series lenses using the Fringer EF-FX2; the older ones can be problematic. OTOH, I have a Nikon 500mm PF that will not function at all regarding aperture control on any Fuji camera it has been mated to, while functioning perfectly on any Nikon DSLR it is mated to. And I have gone through 3 of the NF-FX adapters trying to get it to work. Finally gave up and bought a D500 at a good price; just use the X-H1 with Canon glass.

Fringer may have QC issues. Have you contacted them via email? That can be an interesting conversation, you have to stick to your guns.

Focus area should not be grayed out i believe. It isn‘t on my fringer. I can set the af-size here

IS is on the camera (the 100-400 has 3 settings, tried them all, macro has 1 setting). * Fringer may have QC issues. Have you contacted them via email? That can be an interesting conversation, you have to stick to your guns. -* I came across someone who had an issue and had three Fringer adapters before theirs worked. I am not sure I am that patient though.

I just want to make sure the problem is not my end before I email them.

Is the camera's focus limiter range set in the AF/MF menu? It should be off if you are using a non-Fuji lens through an adapter.

One more thing. When I half press the shutter the tracking works but there is no attempt by the lens to focus - this a communication issue with the Fringer?

It says OFF but is greyed out also.

Have you accidentally set your current focus mode to mf by pressing the fn3 button on the front of the fuji?

The Focus Mode in the menu definitely says AF-C, would pressing FN3 overide that permanently?

Checked with my fringer: it wont. Menue displays the true focusing mode.
    I‘m running out of ideas

Just stuck my head out the door with the 100-400 focus is now working but with the 1.4tc there is no autofocus. Literally, turned off the camera, added the 1.4tc - nothing. It's got to be the Fringer rather than anything on the camera?

Fringer have sent me a beta Firmware update and I just sepnt a few hours using it. This allows you to use the EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS II with the 1.4TC Mk3. The auto focus is very quick and sticky. I suspect I need to make a few adjustments to improve the hit rate but basically it is agood result for anyone who has this combination.

    Hi Gareth,

If you look at the compatibility chart at the bottom of this link:
    www.fringeradapter.com/canon-ef-to-fujifilm-x

The lens is supported yet not with the TC.
