Forest fires in Canada, photographed in Italy

I went out for a short hike up in the Apennines on Sunday. It was cold enough to need a jacket up there, but there was a strange thick "heat haze", that I had never experienced before. I read today, that air currents crossing the Atlantic have carried the smoke, from burning forests in Canada across parts of Europe.

I didn't capture the haze on photo, but I definitely experienced it myself in the alpine region of Bavaria. I don't think I've ever experienced air quality this bad, since my days in South Korea. Biking home, the air felt oppressive, humid and thick. I felt myself tire more quickly and the bike ride dragged on, same as the air was dragging on me. To have this haze travel all the way across the Atlantic and still leave this kind of impact, I cannot even imagine being anywhere close to the real deal.
