The update may be delayed - we have found an issue with private messages which we cannot explain. So, I want to get that fixed first.
I'll keep you updated.
Alan
I've reserved the 14th and 15th March in my diary to get the updates done now. I'll update the title.
Alan
Tomorrow - Friday (all being well), I will be creating new forums and moving threads around as per the plan published some time ago (dprevived.com/t/forum-updates-to-come-your-thoughts/7002/). So, be prepared for things to change as you look. And where you post something may not be where it ends up.
Any issues, message me.
Alan
IMPORTANT
While I am moving threads around, you will find that the "Threads" menu item has lots of old posts in them. This is because moving threads updates the date last modified field. There is nothing I can do about this. lease be patient with me - it will all sort itself out in a few days as new threads/posts are written
Alan
Is it too late to reverse it? It has completely broken the chronological order of all the threads.
It is possible to fix that by removing admin notice about thread movement.
Yes it's too late to go back. I can get it back by going into each post and deleting the text that says 'this thread was moved'. I'll look into doing that once we have finished. But that's hundreds of threads I have to fix
Is there anything in particular you need fixing?
Alan
That would be the easy fix - but would be better to be done by script otherwise rather laborious...
Yes, that fixes it but I have to do them one at a time
If you know a quick way, please let me know
I did that for editmeanimage threads - I have not much time at the moment :(
/edit/ Did landscape too.
From that I am assuming date of last post determines the chronological rank of the parent? Or is it possible the parent has a date field that is updated after a post?
Yes, date of the last post - see landscape and editmeanimage threads, should be in correct order now.
If you know a quick way, please let me know
If someone can create a script to do it at database level - but dangerous territory unless one knows what one is doing. A backup of the database always required first... And either a temporary lock on posting or some method of logging any posts while until settled and then add them.
Manually is easier. I did that for B&W threads now.
/edit/ And C&C is fixed.
Thanks, Arvo,
I'll try and keep that up to date when I move threads. Deleting forums and moving threads is different and doesn't affect things.
Alan
I'm doing weekly cats!
