On DPReview people seemed to be happy enough with brand-specific forums for smaller sensors. I think that's silly but I didn't participate there so I have no skin in that game.
Medium format is too small to do that. Should we have separate forums for Fuji, Hasselblad, Pentax, Phase One and other "medium format" sensors, and then additional separate ones for people who adapt lenses, and one or a few more for people who use technical cameras? The Alpa people might not want to mix with the Cambo people. The Arca-Swiss people will have a very quiet forum because there's not many of us.
I enjoyed the DPReview Medium Format Forum because it was brand agnostic. I have zero interest in talking only to people who use a specific brand of camera.
But one does not preclude the other, live and let live.
Some people want the chance to participate in a less chaotic forum.
Personally, I only have an MF and it's a Pentax, and I prefer the Medium Format Talk.
But if another person who owns a Fuji, and is not interested in being constantly overwhelmed with interventions
on the advantage of Pentax MF DSLR cameras or the superiority of Hasselblad.
He would surely like to have the chance to participate in a forum like "Fuji Medium Format"
One does not preclude the other. That is true. But when we divide a small community, we lose depth. I didn't hang out at the DPReview Medium Format forum because I wanted to talk about my Fuji GFX camera. I wanted to talk to other photographers who were serious and experienced, and the proportion of those people at that forum was unusually high by DPReview standards.
GetDPI offers another example of how you could have what you want. There's a Medium Format Forum, which brings together people interested in Hasselblad, Phase One, Fuji, film -- all things medium format. Then there's a "Fuji" forum, that brings together people who want to focus on Fuji equipment -- all formats. I prefer the "Medium Format" forum because I like the broader perspective. Other people seem happiest in the dedicated Fuji forum. And some people cross over.
Anyway, it's not up to me. If there's a poll, I'm voting for "Agnostic". If the community is split, I'll spend my time in the one that has the most people I want to talk to. It's probably this one.
You're lucky the admins here are open-minded.
Currently, there is a demand in the opposite direction, to split the “Nikon Coolpix and 1 system” forum into two.

I greatly prefer all MF in one place. But,.then, I've already said that. ;)
I like the way lenses and other stuff not of a particular camera make gets used. Other stuff being things like Jim's setup for scanning film. And, speaking of film, that's welcome too. So, if you have one of those panoramic MF film cameras and a scanning system - maybe based on a GFX - and get on with it all....I'd love to see it. :)
Myself, I'm still in the 'get a GFX 100s and an adapter for my Pentax 645 lenses' camp. No way I'll be able to buy GF lenses at the same time as a camera. I need to work in stages.
I have been dipping into the DPreview Medium Format Forum for yrs and would like it to be still alive in the same way. I guess i want the same as what i am used to. Surely it is better to have variety especially when Fuji can be adapted to all different glass lenses anyway.
Thanks so much. I do believe this makes the most sense. Not that is was bad to look at two forums vs one. Where it'd become tedious is to look into a forum for every make of MF equipment.
