    100% agree.

BTW… while I don’t comment on most of your “old gear” threads, I read them all. I love them. It’s a bit of “memory lane” for me and often just a solid reminder of the past. Thank you for posting stuff like this, I, for one, really like the content.

We buy new gear because of GAS (I've just learned about that!). Looking at the pictures above and ones I have taken 20 years ago, have I got value for money? Of course not. But have I enjoyed the new experiences - yes. So, for me, it is worth it.

I see absolutely no difference in those images. In fact I'm certain if this site had more traffic than it does now, someone would come along and either say you faked the comparison or the exif data...

Well done, and thanks for posting these.

If all you do with your images is posting them at lower resolution in the internet, or printing them small, cameras from even more than 10 years ago are still fine. On the other hand, in the meantime we have better EVFs, sensor image stabilization, and better sensors. For those who value and need such things.

I can see a difference - but you really have to look closely. Slight colour cast change and the sharpness of some of the hair (einstein photo).

Yes, I was surprised to see so much difference when looking through the viewfinders, just how superior the X-T5's EVF is. And I had a lot of trouble with the autofocus, especially for close-up photography (macro) with the X-Pro1.
There are so many parameters to take into account when making a decision, for a camera.

But I started dreaming of an X-Pro4, I'm incorrigible! 😱

Sorry, but I don't see it.

As for color differences, certainly nothing meaningful on my calibrated monitor. And even then, it's entirely a matter of preference, so I don't see that as an improvement.

Although it is nice to have improved image quality, for me, it more about the improvements in usability. As I age it seems that image stabilization, improved viewfinders, better auto focus, etc. came at just the right time to keep me in the game. And I appreciate that and find it worth investing in.
