static electricity : Under severe conditions, up to 15,000 Volts have been recorded. It is quite common to experience 5,000V. In fact, many people do not feel a shock from a static electricity discharge less than about 2,000-4,000V.

My fun fact, well actually it's not much fun for people who weren't aware of it, is that posting images online is effectively giving them away for free for others to download and do what they like with them.

My take on that: I never post the best of any series.

Well, I never put photos online that I have been paid for, even if it was for a print. It would not be fair to those who paid for them to then see them available for free online to anyone.

There was a guy on dpreview, DonB (no relation to the OP), who ended up "donating" several of his photos he had posted there and in his gallery to people who downloaded them. Some made excellent starter images for editing with special effects. Some of the results I have seen are stunning.

The voltage equalizes almost immediately upon discharge. There isn't enough time to sustain any harmful current. Become part of the circuit between thousands of volts that are sustainable under load, though, and then you have problems.

Maybe that's because you built it out of matchsticks?

Alaska is also the eastern-most state in the union. Doesn't that make it east of Canada?

How is it the eastern when it's on the west coast?

It’s interesting that they cross the longitude line, but I think they actually made the time zone jump out a bit so Alaska doesn’t have a separate time zone on a couple islands.

I’d have to confirm. But that’s what it shows in google maps.
