I dropped an OM-1 with my old-ish 40-150 f/2.8 lens mounted off a tripod from 5 feet high on to a hard floor and shattered the lens mount and cables. No damage to the OM-1. Sent the lens to OMDS service in New Jersey and got it back good as new, packaged well, shipped well, and communications with the shop were good. This was reassuring. I missed my 40-150!

Great that you have the lens back. I really like it though I have to admit I need to shoot with it more often.

How much did you pay and what did they do?

Good to know in case of a future need.
I use this lens often and love it.
    Thanks

They replaced the mount end hardware and cables for around $450 and cleaned it up. There wasn't much of a description. I don't know how much of the internals were replaced. It was a lot less expensive than buying a new used one, but it was not an inexpensive repair, that's for sure. I'm just happy to have gotten it repaired at the same facility I've sent other gear to over the years. I've always had good service and turnarounds weren't too bad either.

Too bad you did not completely destroy your 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro. Then you could have justified a 150-400mm f/4.5 Pro!

I too thoroughly enjoy my 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro. Like others mentioned, I should use it more, but it is very nice to have when I need it. I've read that a few sold their 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro when they got the 12-100mm f/4 Pro. I have both lenses and they are entirely different beasts. I'm keeping both.

I was able to get the 150-400 Pro early last year. My OM-1 is pretty much dedicated to it. These days I use the 40-150 f/2.8 on a 1X most of the time. "A body for every zoom" or something like that.

    That's become my philosophy... 😀

I have a 24-200 on my FF and the PL100-400 on the OM-1. Been thinking of looking for a 12-100 for the m4/3's.
