Google and Artificial Intelligence ...

Recently, searching with Google gets you what looks like a ChatGPT response with some suggested links thrown in.

About a year or more ago, I was banned for life from discuss dot pixls dot us for consistently mentioning AI.

Now that Googling is no longer a purely AI-free activity (if it ever was), would mentioning Google results now be frowned upon there? Kind of like - would the provenance of any statement have to be acceptable to their most overbearing Mods?

I believe that most, if not all, members here are capable of viewing/reading AI output appropriately. Therefore, I do hope that the paranoid attitude seen on other sites will not creep in here.

I remember reading recently (can’t remember where) that, on balance AI is 69% accurate. Imagine, for example, the consequences if the purchase documents for your house, or the technical manual for a plane (or any one of a thousand other examples) were only 69% accurate. I must say though, that the AI replace in the latest version of Photoshop is quite stunning and it’s improved quite a few photos that I’d discarded…

I don't really know if it is any less useful than it has been for a long time really. I've been trying to use it as little as possible for a long time.
