Mormon Lake is among my most-visited locations for wildlife and bird photography. The overlook along the east rim of the lake is home to a great variety of resident and migrating birds. I've also had the occasional wildlife encounter along the rim. However, I prefer to set up in one of the large, grassy meadows surrounding the lake when I'm out for mammals. In this photo, a great blue heron glides towards northern Arizona's Grass Flat Tank.

Great shot - i love the lines in the background created by the grass and flowers! Makes it feel like a runway of sorts.
