Ok, thank you. But again I can't claim much credit. Google search plus your clue it was sort of over the border from Victoria helped a lot.

Google search didn't return your actual photo but similar photos and one of them was the ANWE plant in Eden, NSW.

I'll now go looking for another photo.

    Standby...................................................

Sorry Bryan but I have no idea what you mean and after inadvertently misleading maxdance earlier in the thread when he posted a 'cryptic' guess I really can't give you an answer.

If you have a place in mind perhaps it's better if you just post it plainly 🙂 I'm not good with cryptic guesses.

No, it's not West Lake but the city is in an adjoining province.

I don't know. The photos were taken back in 2019 and we were there at the lake for just a few hours.

If you have a place in mind just post it :-)

There are so many fountains in China... and often photos are night light shows so can't really see the base and determine yes / no

China, as in many parts of Germany, does not have Google street view to help carry out researching suspected locations - and there are many lakes in the surrounding provinces. I had a quick look but gave it away early on as most of the photos of similar looking fountains in China are (as Bryan has also discovered) advertisements for Chinese fountain manufacturers. One actually uses a photo of the same fountain but does not say where it was taken:
