Some say it is in NSW, and some say it is in South Australia. Some it was built by the Welsh, and some say by the Cornish...

The dry stone wall would suggest the UK rather than the southern hemisphere. And no I haven't checked with Google.

It might suggest the UK but that would be wrong :-)

Surely must be Oz or South Africa - Cornish or Welsh miners ?

Certainly one of those. Copper was of great importance here.

Burra, South Australia is the place. The small house featured on the cover of Midnight Oil's album 'Diesel & Dust", as Bryan suggested.

    Your turn.

And the reason I said the above was that the first article I read actually said Burra NSW, which was wrong. And another article said Welsh miners built the chimney, also wrong. The Welsh tended to build square chimneys. The Cornish round chimneys. Just a little history learned along the way, which is part of why I enjoy this Guess the Place thread.

Albiez-le-Vieux village, in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France?

Edit: Really in need of an early night down here, so now off to bed.
Please offer a free turn if my guess is accurate enough.
    Max.
